IT Technology

An important element in our modern electronic society

With a degree in IT Technology, where you can specialise within electronics or network, you will make up an important element in our modern electronic society, where most people depend on computers and electronics.

This dependence gives some indication of how much appreciated the knowledge and expertise of the IT Technology graduate is to companies within the information technology and the computer industries where time flies. New products are developed and improved continuously. During the programme you will keep track of the development within the field of IT and electronics, and you will be familiar with the latest technology. Besides enthusiasm for working with computers and electronics, you will upon graduation have a thorough insight into subjects such as finance, environment, management and quality.

The IT Technology programme takes two years to complete and is divided into four semesters. You can choose to specialise within either electronics or network.

With an AP degree in IT Technology you can continue your studies at the 1½ year bachelor top-up programme: Bachelor in Product Development and Integrative Technology.

IT Technologists from Lillebaelt Academy (EAL) in Odense, specializing in Network, is being coveted by companies in Denmark and abroad. It is a 2 - year course where the first 1.5 years, 3 semesters take place at the Academy campus in Odense.

We work with Juniper Networks, which is one of the leading suppliers of networking equipment. We are part of Juniper Networks Academic Alliance (JNAA) which makes us able to give you an in-depth education in routers and switches in our own modern Juniper Networks laboratory. Additionally, we work closely with Palo Alto Networks (AAC), which is the world leader in terms of safety and Next Generation Firewalls, and VMware (VMAP) is the leader in virtualization. By working with the three leading suppliers we can offer you an education that is one of the best available today.

Requirements

At the study, which is full-time and requires a great deal of effort by you to complete, work is always in groups.

You will learn to design and build "communications systems" (Routers, Switches, Firewalls and Servers). As a student, you get a basic understanding of the latest network protocols and technologies, as well as on how to practically implement and apply them. At the same time, you gain insight in analyzing a company's needs within the network area and translate the needs into technical solutions. You learn Project Management and Project Management, Quality and Resource Management, in connection with development and design tasks.

Throughout the study, we focus on "soft skills", ie the non-academic skills that make a highly skilled person to a key player in his team. We know how important it is that you can present your good idea, give the boss a good basis for decision or have a dialogue with the customer. This requires a high professional level, but if you want to make a difference as a graduate, you must also master oral and written communication in the form of, inter alia, presentations and reports.

Lessons

EAL has introduced a very thorough training, both theoretical and practical. For the practical part takes place in our Network Laboratory, which is one of the most advanced available in Denmark. EAL is included in Juniper Networks Academic Alliance and is also a Palo Alto Networks Authorized Academy Center (AAC) and VMware Academic Program (VMAP) and therefore have a wide network lab with routers and switches from Juniper Networks and NG Firewalls from Palo Alto Networks. This means that you, as students, have the opportunity to become Juniper Networks, VMware and Palo Alto Networks certified during the training. The teachers at the study are of course certified, so we can give you the best training in networking, security, virtualization and trimmings.

EAL target programs against the business community and among IT technologists, we have close contact with national and international companies. Therefore, our training in Odense built around the three main basic elements in "Enterprise Networking" today, whether we're talking pure Enterprise, Mobile, Service Provider or Hosting.

With a degree in IT Technology you will have a wide range of responsibilities. Therefore, the aim of the education is to make you capable of participating at many levels within a company: the planning level, the managing level and the operative level.

During the education you acquire skills in many fields, and your knowledge in the technical field will reach its peak. Furthermore, your skills involving finance and management of the organisation and your knowledge of factors such as environment and quality will be developed.

The education is organised so that you obtain knowledge of and gain an insight into all subjects that will become important for your future job fields. As the development within network and electronics rapidly progresses it is important that you learn how to acquire new knowledge om your own.

The education is divided into a compulsory part and an optional part. The compulsory part consists of:

Career opportunities

Be prepared for the many challenges in a globalised world!

We live in a world where we are increasingly and constantly challenged by the opportunities of globalisation.

Danish companies must be flexible and innovative to cope with this new situation, and although product development and marketing efforts are often initiated in Denmark, actual production is outsourced to suppliers abroad – in and outside Europe.

In future there will undoubtedly be a heavier demand for highly qualified and competent employees with degrees in logistics and marketing.

Effective logistical management utilising computer-based technologies and telecommunication with vehicles on the road, vessels on the oceans, trains and aeroplanes can ensure that international shipments will arrive just in time – and according to pre-arranged schedules. And with due respect for the environment.

The Logistics Management programme is designed and developed by the Danish Ministry of Education in close cooperation with business enterprises, organisations, the Danish Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs and the Danish Ministry of Transport and Energy.

After completion of the education programme graduates are offered excellent job possibilities within Logistics and Marketing in Denmark and abroad.
