About Denmark

Denmark is located in Northern Europe between the Nordic Sea and the Baltic Sea. It is one of the smallest countries in Europe, when not including the Faroe Islands and Greenland, and has a population of approximately 5.5 million people. The small land area makes it easy to explore the country, as well as neighboring countries.

Denmark is a modern, safe, well-organised, and culturally rich welfare state and is ranked among the countries in the world with the highest living standard.

The country is well-known for its flat topography and beautiful nature. The highest point only rises to 173 m above sea level. Denmark consists of 7,314 km coast-line which means than no one in Denmark lives more than 50 km from the sea.

Dannebrog, Denmark’s flag, is strongly connected to the country and its people. It is seen all over and used during celebrations and festivities. It is the oldest flag in the world that is still being used by an independent country.

The Danes have been ranked the happiest people in the world several times. Maybe that can be explained by their free spirited, relaxed, and tolerant attitude towards life. Common to all Danes is their tendency to take the ups and downs of life with a touch of irony, often self-irony.
